This type of backing has become more popular in recent years, mainly down to the fact that it is a more environmentally friendly option.
TPR backing has the properties of both plastic and rubber. It is particularly strong and durable, but is also reusable and recyclable.
It is a synthetic material which avoids any possible allergic reactions to natural latex and can also be hung to dry on a radiator without the risk of cracking.
On the other hand, our Kempton Bath Mat features a latex rubber backing.
This type of backing is well-suited to hard flooring, keeping it securely in place every single time.
The rubber latex also keeps the bath mat lightweight making it easy to lift up and move around your bathroom. It also suitable for machine washing, making it an easy care option for your bathroom.
But be aware, this mat may not be suited to heated floors as the rubber can crack, making it less reliably non-slip.

This 100% polyethylene underlay ensures improved grip for all mats without an anti-slip backing. It can be used on all types of flooring, including bathrooms with underfloor heating.
Once the underlay starts to lose it's friction, simply wash it and re-use it to remove any insecurity when stepping out on our bath mat.
We have also adapted our Elegance Reversible Bath Mats and Pedestal Mats to guard against them moving around on your bathroom floor.
These bath mats are designed so that both sides can be used, so it does not have an anti-slip backing.
However, at 2200gsm, this is one of our heaviest mats, with the added weight designed to hold it in place. For extra assurance, you can still use a sheet of non-slip rubber underlay underneath.
