The weighted blanket is rapidly growing in popularity. Its effect and benefits are being widely recognised. But what is a weighted blanket and why are they becoming increasingly popular?
In this blog, we will aim to cover all the questions you could possibly have and explain how using one of our Slumber Weighted Blankets in the comfort of your own home could benefit you or one of your family members.
What is a weighted blanket?
The clue is in the name! The Allure Slumber Weighted Blanket is a heavy blanket, available in six different weights and three sizes.
It is jam-packed with thousands of tiny hypo-allergenic glass beads, giving the blanket its heaviness.
What are the benefits?
The Allure Slumber Weighted Blanket is designed to act in much the same way a tight hug would do, helping you to calm down and relax.
The science behind using a weighted blanket is simple - something called deep touch pressure (DTP). This is where you gently apply pressure to the body to aid the release of serotonin.
Serotonin is sometimes called the happy chemical, because its release is linked and contributes to happiness, well-being and relaxation.
The heaviness of the blanket, a delicate yet firm pressure on your body, reaches the deep-seated receptors and helps with the release of serotonin and endorphins, chemicals that our body naturally releases to make us feel calm and relaxed.
This all means that the use of our blanket will dramatically increase the likelihood of a good nights sleep, making it the ideal sleeping companion for anyone suffering with insomnia or for people with sensory integration and psychomotor disorders such as autism and ADHD.
Why choose the Slumber Weighted Blanket?
The Allure Slumber Weighted Blanket is packed with tiny environmentally friendly glass beads that will lay smoothly on the body.
They are non-toxic, hypo-allergenic and avoid the odour which plastic beads can sometimes initially give off.
These beads are extremely tiny, measuring between 0.9-1.1mm in diameter. Due to the careful and expert gridded square stitching of these blankets, the beads will always remain evenly distributed right across the blanket. This will ensure the utmost comfort for whoever has the pleasure of using it.
The cover of the blanket is crafted using a beautifully soft, easy-care microfibre polyester. This guarantees long-lasting performance and durability and guards against the charcoal grey colour fading when it is washed.
You could use this blanket in a number of different ways, including on top of or underneath your duvet, increasing the likelihood of a full nights sleep.
Or why not relax after a long week or tough day at work by laying on the sofa in front of the TV, wrapped up in your Allure Slumber Weighted Blanket.
